My Top Ten

00_49_08_crop_small.jpg, Link to nextWhen asked about my ten best dives it puts me in a difficult position. How can I justify that dive A should be on my list and dive B should be left off? How can I review a few thousand dives and decide which ones really merited being in my top 10? Should I count a site because I once had a good dive on it, or should it be a dive site I could happily do again and again and again?

The only solution is to cut the scope of my problem down with ruthless efficiency. For a start, no wrecks. Not because I don't like wreck diving. I like wreck diving too much, but "no wrecks" immediately cut out a significant proportion of my dilemma.

Secondly, no one off dives. To qualify a dive site has to be somewhere I have experienced as consistently excellent. Finally, only one per country. Otherwise I won't get out of Scotland.

I also decided that I wouldn't be biased by which sites I had good photographs for. What you see here are the scenic and life dives I have consistently enjoyed most, not those I brought back the best pics from.

So here are my top ten scenic and life dives, in no particular order, as thought of on the day in question. Maybe I will do a top ten wrecks some other time.
